The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) announced that Atishi will be sworn in as the new Chief Minister of Delhi on September 21, along with her cabinet. Initially, the party planned for only Atishi to take the oath, but they later decided that her council of ministers would be sworn in as well.
This change comes after Arvind Kejriwal resigned from his position as Chief Minister on Tuesday. Atishi expressed her gratitude for the trust placed in her by Kejriwal and acknowledged the mixed feelings about his resignation.
“I want to thank Arvind Kejriwal, the popular Chief Minister of Delhi and my mentor, for giving me this huge responsibility. It’s a unique opportunity in AAP, where a first-time politician like me can become the Chief Minister. Coming from an ordinary family, I might not have had this chance in any other party,” she said.
