Controversy doesn’t seem to leave Bollywood superstar Salman Khan. As a matter of fact, the actor is once again embroiled in a massive controversy after he sent a legal notice to the filmmakers of the movie “Kala Hiran: The Battle for Legacy”. In the notice, Salman Khan demanded the immediate halt of the release and marketing of the project.
But what is the fuss all about?
Apparently, there are reports claiming that the movie is made as a tribute to the infamous case of blackbuck poaching involving the actor in 1998. The case is considered to be one of the most controversial and widely discussed court cases in Bollywood since it is pending in Rajasthan High Court even now.
According to the notice sent by Salman Khan’s legal representative, the producers of the film made the movie using his name, public persona, and the events surrounding his life without any permission. The notice also stated that the production of the movie was a violation of his personal rights and it could do great harm to his reputation.
Moreover, the actors lawyers are worried that making a movie about a case that’s still in court could mess with the court process and maybe hurt his chance to have a fair trial.
Salman Khans team has sent a notice to the filmmakers. They want the filmmakers to stop working on the movie promoting it or releasing it away. The notice says if they don’t listen they could face lawsuits and even criminal charges.
Amit Jani, the producer is fighting back. He thinks Salman Khan is trying to scare people who are working on the movie. Amit says he is ready to face any problems that come his way.
The controversy is interesting because the movies poster is already out. The filmmakers were getting ready to promote it. Now it seems unsure if the movie will happen.
This argument also shows a problem, in the entertainment business: stars rights. Many famous people have gone to court to stop people from using their name, picture or personal info without permission online.
The question now is will “Kala Hiran” still come out or will Salman Khans lawsuit stop it from happening.
