Brother Allegedly Masterminded Shimla Businesswoman’s Murder Over Property Dispute, Say Police.

Police say that the brother, who claimed to be the mastermind of the murder of a businesswoman in Shimla, had been instrumental in the incident. The Shimla Police, in a significant development in the high-profile Manisha Mittal murder case, has claimed that the businesswoman was killed by her younger brother Himank Mittal, and not by any outsider.

Manisha Mittal was shot dead outside Saraswati Paradise International Public School in Saraswati, Shimla on June 13, the police said. Investigators now say the killing was part of a meticulously orchestrated plot in a long-running feud over family land and the operation of the school. Police claim that Himank Mittal, who was allegedly a lover of Govind, had concocted the killing plan with him and recruited two contract killers from Haryana for the job. Investigators say Himank deposited about ₹8.5 lakh in Govind’s bank account just days before the killing, which was believed to be used to help orchestrate the murder and provide money for the paid killers.

The probe also found that Himank apparently had access to the school’s CCTV surveillance system and could watch Manisha move around before the attack. The footage from the CCTV shows that the suspects were present at the scene, while the bank transaction records, digital evidence and technical analysis all indicate that the man was in fact Himank, who was the alleged mastermind of the murder, the police said. The police had earlier arrested the two alleged shooters from Haryana.

All the main accused in the case are now in police custody, after the arrest of Himank Mittal and his associate Govind. Investigators are still trying to reconstruct the events and determine the involvement of each of the accused in the alleged conspiracy. The issue has again exposed the way family property conflicts can become violent, bringing deeply fractured families to their knees and raising grave concerns about the devastating impact of unresolved personal differences.
