Haryana Congress Manifesto for Upcoming Elections
The Indian National Congress has unveiled its manifesto for the upcoming Haryana Legislative Assembly elections, outlining a range of initiatives aimed at improving citizens’ lives.
In a press conference attended by prominent leaders like President Mallikarjun Kharge, Haryana Congress Chief Udai Bhan, former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, and AICC senior observers Ashok Gehlot, Ajay Maken, and Partap Singh Bajwa, the party announced seven key guarantees. These include a legal guarantee for the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for farmers and a commitment to conduct a caste census if they come to power.
Key Promises in the Manifesto:
- Free Electricity: 300 units of free electricity to every household.
- Medical Treatment: Free medical treatment up to ₹25 lakh.
- Women’s Empowerment:
- Monthly allowance of ₹2,000 for women aged 18 to 60.
- Gas cylinders at a subsidized price of ₹500.
- Youth Opportunities:
- Recruitment for 2 lakh vacant government positions.
- Launching a ‘Drug-free Haryana’ initiative to combat substance abuse.
- Social Security Enhancements:
- ₹6,000 monthly pension for senior citizens, disabled individuals, and widows.
- Restoration of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) for financial security.
- Backward Classes Rights:
- Conducting a comprehensive caste census.
- Increasing the creamy layer limit to ₹10 lakh to extend benefits to more underprivileged communities.
- Farmers’ Prosperity:
- Legal guarantee of MSP to protect farmers’ interests.
- Immediate compensation for crop damage.
- Housing for the Poor:
- Allocation of 100-yard plots for economically disadvantaged families.
- Construction of two-room houses at a cost of ₹3.5 lakh.
