During his three-day visit to the US, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a roundtable discussion with technology leaders at the Lotte New York Palace Hotel on Sunday. This event, organized by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) School of Engineering, brought together CEOs from 15 major US-based tech firms, focusing on advanced technologies like Artificial Intelligence, quantum computing, and semiconductors.
Notable attendees included Google CEO Sundar Pichai, Adobe CEO Shantanu Narayen, Accenture CEO Julie Sweet, and NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang. Other participants included AMD CEO Lisa Su, HP Inc. CEO Enrique Lores, IBM CEO Arvind Krishna, Moderna Chairman Noubar Afeyan, and Verizon CEO Hans Vestberg.
The discussion revolved around the evolving global technology landscape and how these innovations can improve lives worldwide, including in India. PM Modi highlighted the importance of technology collaboration as a key element of the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership. He expressed his commitment to making India the third-largest economy and encouraged tech companies to leverage India’s growth for collaboration and innovation.
Modi emphasized India’s focus on becoming a global hub for semiconductor manufacturing and discussed the government’s BIO E3 policy aimed at transforming India into a biotech powerhouse. He also shared India’s vision for AI, promoting ethical and responsible use under the “AI for All” initiative.
The CEOs showed a strong interest in investing and collaborating with India, appreciating the country’s status as a growing global technology hub with innovation-friendly policies. They agreed that investing in startups in India could create synergistic opportunities for new technology development.
MIT Professor Anantha Chandrakasan, who chaired the roundtable, thanked PM Modi and the CEOs for their participation, reaffirming MIT’s commitment to advancing technology for global benefit.
