Kumar highlighted that improved rail access would facilitate easier travel for the many devotees who flock to both Ram Mandir in Ayodhya and Punaura Dham Janki Mandir in Sitamarhi, the latter being the birthplace of Goddess Sita. The state government is currently working on developing Punaura Dham to attract more pilgrims.
In his letter, Kumar expressed gratitude for the recent introduction of several Vande Bharat trains connecting various cities in Bihar. He emphasized the need for another train specifically between Ayodhya and Sitamarhi, urging the Ministry of Railways to act on this request.
Additionally, he noted that the central government has initiated the construction of the Ram-Janki Marg, which connects Ayodhya to Sitamarhi. Kumar requested that the concerned ministry expedite this project to improve road access for pilgrims traveling between these two sacred sites.
To support this initiative, Kumar had previously laid the foundation stone for the development of Punaura Dham Janki Mandir on December 13, 2023. The state cabinet has approved ₹72.47 crore for the project, which will be managed by the state tourism department. Plans include creating a Sita-Vatika, Luv-Kush Vatilka, a parikrama path, and various facilities like kiosks, cafes, and children’s play areas.
Moreover, roads leading to the pilgrimage site are being developed, along with thematic gates and parking areas to enhance the overall experience for visitors.
