The Ministry of Education has announced an extension for the National Means cum Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS) application deadline for the 2024-25 academic year. The new deadline for submitting applications through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) is September 30, 2024.
According to the official notice, “It is hereby notified that the last date for uploading the application of fresh, i.e., selected candidates of National Means cum Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS) beneficiaries for the year 2024-2025 and renewals in National Scholarship Portal (NSP) is extended up to 30.09.2024. The Head of the institutions concerned are requested to inform the students and complete the registrations within the scheduled time.”
Students must visit the official website, [scholarships.gov.in](https://scholarships.gov.in), to complete the One-Time Registration (OTR) applications. After applying, each student will receive a unique 14-digit number based on their Aadhaar/Aadhaar Enrolment ID (EID). This OTR number simplifies the scholarship application process by eliminating the need for re-registration each academic year.
To start the application, students should have the following documents and details ready. Note that not all items listed are mandatory; document requirements may vary by scheme:
1. An active Android mobile number.
2. Basic personal details, including:
– Name
– Gender
– Date of Birth
– Father’s Name
– Mother’s Name
– Domicile State
3. School/Institute enrollment number.
4. Class 10 details:
– Roll number
– Percentage
– Marksheet (if applicable)
5. Class 12 details:
– Roll number
– Percentage
– Marksheet (if applicable)
6. Competitive exam details (if applicable):
– Exam name
– Roll number
– Year of exam
7. Ration Card/PPP ID details.
8. UDID number (if applicable for disability).
9. Complete address.
10. Domicile certificates (if applicable).
11. Aadhaar details:
– Aadhaar number
– Mobile number linked with Aadhaar
– Aadhaar Card (if applicable)
– NPCI Seeding status (desired)
12. If Aadhaar is not available:
– Active mobile number
– Aadhaar enrolment slip or Parent’s/Legal Guardian’s Aadhaar (if the student is a minor)
– Mobile number linked with EID or Parent’s Aadhaar
– NPCI Seeding status (desired)
For students encountering issues with OTR, the government advises checking the biometric lock status of Aadhaar. The official website states, “It has been observed in some cases that students’/parents’/legal guardians’ face authentication for generation of OTR is getting failed as they (Aadhaar Holders) have locked the biometrics for authentication in their Aadhaar. In such cases, students/parents/legal guardians are advised to check their Biometric Lock/Unlock status using the mAadhaar mobile app or My Aadhaar web portal. Before proceeding for face authentication through NSP OTR app, kindly ensure that the Biometric Lock/Unlock status is ‘Unlocked’ for Aadhaar authentication. To lock or unlock the Biometric in Aadhaar, please use the ‘Lock/Unlock Aadhaar’ option on the myAadhaar web portal (refer to the link: [Lock/Unlock Aadhaar](https://resident.uidai.gov.in/bio-lock)).”
