The popular TV show “Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah” is dealing with another legal problem. The show’s producers have issued a formal notice to Palak Sindhwani, who plays Sonu Bhide. The notice claims that Palak participated in third-party endorsements and appearances without getting the required written approval, which goes against her contract. The producers argue that this behavior has harmed the integrity of the character and the show, despite multiple warnings. As a result, they feel they had no choice but to take official action. Palak has indicated that she plans to leave the show soon, marking another departure from this long-running series.
Earlier, actress Jennifer Mistry Bansiwal filed a complaint against producer Asit Modi, operations head Sohail Ramani, and executive producer Jatin Bajaj, alleging that they made inappropriate advances toward her. Jennifer won her case, with the ruling requiring Asit to pay her the remaining Rs. five lakh she was owed, along with her outstanding payments. However, she expressed dissatisfaction with the verdict, saying, “A woman’s reputation matters most. It’s been over 40 days, and I still haven’t received my due payment, which I earned through hard work. Although the harassment was acknowledged, I don’t feel I’ve received true justice yet.” She also noted that Sohail and Jatin were not included in the verdict, which disappointed her.
Before Jennifer, actor Shailesh Lodha, who played the title role, claimed that the producers had not paid him all of his dues, leading to a legal battle. In 2023, Shailesh won the case, and the producers were ordered to pay him the full amount.
“Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah” first aired on July 28, 2008, on Sony SAB and is now available on the Sony LIV platform.
