Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor’s Stree 2 has made history at the box office by becoming the first Hindi film to cross the ₹600 crore mark in a single language. This mid-budget horror comedy is not only one of the biggest blockbusters of all time but also the second Hindi film to reach this impressive milestone in the domestic market.
According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, Stree 2 earned ₹598.90 crore by Saturday, just shy of the ₹600 crore mark. However, on Sunday, the film added ₹4.85 crore, bringing its total domestic earnings to an impressive ₹603.75 crore.
The film saw a significant boost in collections due to Cinema Day on Friday, where ticket prices were reduced to ₹99, attracting large audiences. In its fifth week, Stree 2 earned ₹24.65 crore, followed by a 203% increase on Friday with ₹5 crore. The strong momentum continued over the weekend, with earnings of ₹3.65 crore on Saturday and ₹4.85 crore on Sunday.
Stree 2 has now surpassed Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan, which earned ₹582 crore from its Hindi version and ₹643 crore overall, including Tamil and Telugu versions. While Jawan remains the top Bollywood grosser at the all-India level, Stree 2 holds the record for the highest earnings from its Hindi version.
In comparison, other major blockbusters have lagged behind. Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal earned ₹502.98 crore, Pathaan brought in ₹524.53 crore, and Gadar 2 collected ₹525.7 crore, all from their Hindi versions.
Directed by Amar Kaushik, Stree 2 also stars Abhishek Banerjee, Aparshakti Khurana, and Pankaj Tripathi in key roles.
