What we know till now
-
It was peak traffic time when the Red Fort terror attack occurred near the Red Fort.
- The car that was present just before the explosion, a burnt white Hyundai i20, stood there for a long time.
-
CCTV cameras captured the movements of the vehicle through the city before its destruction in the blast.
- Law enforcement feels there was involvement of a terrorist group and therefore made arrests at the initial stage of the investigation, hence the suspect’s unidentified.
Why this matters
The assault that occurred in one of the clearest and most monitored locations of Delhi is a clear pointer to the city’s security situation undergoing a radical transformation and thus, a major threat to the country’s security.
This Red Fort terror attack translates to increased restrictions, more pronounced security, and people residing, visiting, and working in the location being possibly inconvenienced; all these also call for constant vigilance and being up to date with the circumstances.
What happens next
-
The NIA will lead a full‑scale investigation and coordinate with other agencies.
