The upcoming Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections will be a significant milestone, marking the region’s first electoral event in over a decade. Scheduled to unfold in three phases, the election process will commence on September 18, continue with the second phase on September 25, and conclude with the final round on October 1. Vote counting is set for October 8.
With a competitive political landscape, multiple parties are vying for influence. The National Conference and Congress have teamed up in an alliance, while the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are also key players in the race.
In preparation for the elections, the Congress party announced its third list of candidates on Monday night. Partnering with the National Conference, the Congress has fielded Raman Bhalla, the state working president, for the RS Pura-Jammu South seat. Chaudhary Lal Singh is nominated for Basohli, and former NSUI leader Neeraj Kundan is set to contest from the Bishnah (SC) constituency.
