Kangana Ranaut, BJP MP and actor, faced backlash for her comments about reintroducing the three farm laws that were repealed in 2021. On Wednesday, she clarified that her views were personal and did not represent her party’s stance. She thanked BJP leader Gaurav Bhatia for his reaction to her statement, which had drawn criticism on social media.
Bhatia emphasized that Kangana’s comments did not reflect the BJP’s position on the farm bills and that the party disapproved of her statement. In an interview, Kangana had said that the three farm laws should be brought back and that farmers should demand their return. She argued that these laws were beneficial but were repealed due to protests from some farmers.
Earlier, the Congress party cited Kangana’s remarks to accuse the ruling party of trying to reinstate the laws. They claimed Haryana would respond strongly to this. They shared a video where Kangana allegedly stated that the laws should be reintroduced.
Last month, Kangana received a warning from her party after suggesting that the agitation against the farm laws could have led to a “Bangladesh-like situation” in India, following political turmoil in Bangladesh.
