Hezbollah has been involved in ongoing exchanges of fire with the Israeli military, and this week, a series of explosions related to devices used by the group have caused significant casualties in Lebanon. Over two days, pagers and walkie-talkies used by Hezbollah detonated, resulting in the deaths of at least 37 people and injuring around 3,000 others. The blasts not only affected Hezbollah fighters but also harmed civilians, including two children.
These explosions are believed to be part of an Israeli operation aimed at targeting Hezbollah members. Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant spoke about a “new phase” in the conflict, emphasizing the need for determination in military efforts. As tensions rise, Hezbollah has responded by attacking military positions in northern Israel, with some of their drones crashing near communities.
The ongoing violence has led to numerous casualties on both sides of the border and has caused mass evacuations. Israeli officials have indicated they are ready for further military action against Hezbollah, while the Lebanese Army is working to locate and neutralize more suspicious devices.
Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah is expected to address the situation soon, as the group promises retaliation against Israel. The recent explosions have left many Lebanese anxious and have been described by officials as a “war crime” due to their indiscriminate nature.
