Two wagons of a goods train derailed near Tupkadih station in Bokaro, Jharkhand, affecting train services, an official reported on Thursday. The incident occurred around 9 PM on Wednesday night while the train was transporting steel from Bokaro Steel Plant.
Due to the derailment, 15 trains have been diverted, including 14 express trains, according to Sumit Narula, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of the Adra division of South Eastern Railway. The derailment happened on the main line between Tupkadih and Bokaro
stations, near the northern cabin yard of Tupkadih.
While one of the affected lines has been fixed, work is still ongoing to restore the other line for smooth train traffic. South East Railways stated that the train derailed at TKB yard over point number 102, blocking both lines.
Trains impacted by the incident include:
- Varanasi-Ranchi Vande Bharat Express
- Ranchi-Bhagalpur Vananchal Express
- Hatia-Patna-Ranchi-Kamakhya
- Ranchi-Lokmanya Tilak Express
- Ranchi-Dhanbad intercity
Several trains were stranded as a result, causing inconvenience for passengers. The railways have initiated an inquiry into the derailment.
