The Government is set to launch a new internship scheme aimed at providing opportunities for young individuals aged 21-24 in leading companies. This initiative will be the fifth program under the Prime Minister’s package.
During the Union Budget 2024-25 presentation, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced that the scheme will offer internships in 500 top companies to 1 crore youth over the next five years. Participants will gain 12 months of exposure to real-world business environments and various job opportunities.
Each intern will receive a monthly allowance of Rs 5,000 and a one-time assistance of Rs 6,000. Companies will be required to cover the training costs and contribute 10 percent of the internship expenses from their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds.
