On Friday morning, heavy rainfall in Delhi caused significant disruptions to daily life. Residents of the national capital experienced widespread waterlogging and traffic issues, as predicted by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), which had forecasted additional showers in the region.
The intense downpour led to children heading to school maneuvering carefully to avoid getting drenched. Visuals from across Delhi showed commuters navigating through waterlogged streets, with traffic on Aurobindo Marg and other major roads slowing to a crawl due to the flooding.
The Regional Weather Forecast Cent re (RWFC) New Delhi had earlier predicted light to moderate rainfall with possible thunderstorms and lightning in isolated areas including Jafarpur, Dadri, Greater Noida, Gurugram, Faridabad, Manesar, and Ballabhgarh.
In response to the heavy rainfall, the Delhi traffic police issued several advisories. They reported traffic disruptions on Ring Road in the carriageway from South Extension towards Lajpat Nagar due to a truck breakdown at Moolchand Underpass. Commuters were advised to adjust their travel plans accordingly.
Additionally, the Delhi traffic police highlighted issues on Press Enclave Road in the direction from Saket Court towards Malviya Nagar, where waterlogging near Malviya Nagar Metro Station was affecting traffic flow.
The IMD’s Friday bulletin indicated that light to moderate rain is expected to continue in the coming days, with Delhi’s weather remaining cool throughout the week. The minimum temperature is predicted to hover around 26 degrees Celsius.
