Political analyst and Jan Suraaj Party founder Prashant Kishor has expressed concerns about the BJP’s prospects in upcoming elections, particularly in Bihar, where they are allied with Nitish Kumar’s JD(U). Kishor believes that even BJP workers recognize they cannot win elections while Nitish Kumar remains a prominent figure.
Kishor pointed out that the Modi government relies on support from Nitish Kumar’s JD(U) and Chandrababu Naidu’s TDP for stability. He noted that the opposition understands the political landscape well, with leaders from the INDIA Bloc suggesting that Modi’s third term may not last.
Kishor stated, “The popularity of Modi ji and the NDA government has declined. The next elections in nine states—including Jammu and Kashmir, Delhi, Haryana, Maharashtra, Jharkhand, and Bihar—will be crucial. If the BJP performs poorly, questions about the government’s stability will arise. Conversely, good results will help maintain their power.”
Discussing the BJP-JD(U) alliance, Kishor emphasized that BJP lacks strong leadership in Bihar, stating, “They have no clear leader or strategy, and their workers know they can’t win elections by relying on Nitish Kumar.” He added that the BJP is in a difficult position, as they can’t replace Kumar as Chief Minister without jeopardizing their government in Delhi.
Looking ahead, Kishor announced that Jan Suraaj will contest the Bihar elections scheduled for November 2025. The BJP plans to run in alliance with the LJP and JD(U), while the Congress will partner with the RJD and CPI(M). Bihar’s assembly consists of 243 seats, with a majority requiring 122 seats.
