In a major development in the Kannauj rape case, Uttar Pradesh police have confirmed that former Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Nawab Singh Yadav’s DNA matches evidence linked to the crime. The confirmation comes after Yadav was accused of sexually assaulting a minor girl in Kannauj district.
According to the police, SP Amit Kumar reported that Yadav’s DNA sample has been positively matched with evidence from the crime scene, establishing his involvement. This breakthrough follows a complaint alleging that Yadav had invited the minor girl and her aunt with a promise of employment. Upon their arrival, Yadav is accused of attempting to sexually assault the minor girl. Fortunately, the girl managed to alert the UP Police helpline, 112, and report the incident. The police acted on the SOS call, registered an FIR, and arrested Nawab Singh Yadav.
The minor underwent a medical examination, and her statement was recorded by the authorities. Nawab Singh Yadav, who previously served as the Samajwadi Party block head and managed a private educational institution, is accused of committing the assault under the pretext of offering a job. The girl’s aunt, who had taken her to Yadav’s private inter-college on the night of August 11-12 under the guise of job placement, has also been arrested in connection with the case.
